The New Way To Quit.  Since 1976

Solving your habit problem

The Short Story:

The Palmer Smoking Clinic program is a combination of two programs, a behavioral approach to quitting and a unique hypnosis program. You can't get that anywhere else!

cigaretteAt the Palmer Smoking Clinic of Illinois, my belief has always been that the habit plays the major role when you are trying to quit and not the nicotine.
I'm Paul S. Palmer, director of the Palmer Smoking Clinic. If I were to give you a percentage, I would say 99% of the problem in trying to quit is the behavioral part of smoking. I know that's not what you've heard from all the experts but it's what many smokers have experienced in bits and pieces over their smoking career. I have plenty of examples of the role behavior plays in cigarette smoking in my Full Story page.

It can't be nicotine.

You might have already discovered that your old smoking haunts continue to call you to smoke long after you've quit. These are real cravings that can last for months. That can't be the nicotine, not weeks or months down the line. Even the nicotine experts can't figure out how that happens. They do seem to agree that nicotine is out of your system in a matter of days.
A surprising number of my clients come to me already convinced they need help dealing with their years of practice rather than needing help with a chemical addiction. These are smokers who noticed when they needed a cigarette and just as important, when they don't need to smoke.

All smokers have situations where they don't smoke.

"When is that?", you say. I smoke every waking moment! It might seem like that to some of you. These no-cigarette situations aren't always that obvious. It might be turning the habit off to get a good night's sleep, a movie, public places or maybe an airline flight. Small situations are just as important an indicator that it can't always be the nicotine. Jobs have gone smokeless and nicotine addicts turn off their addiction for hours at a time. It's an odd sort of chemical addiction if in fact, it can be turned on and off. Tell me one other chemical addiction where you can be selective about when your body needs the chemical it's addicted to.

The right way to quit.

cigaretteIf I'm right and it's a habit problem, then quitting calls for a habit solution not a chemical one. If the stop-smoking program you are using doesn't do anything to put the habit to sleep, you are going to be uncomfortable, turn into an eating machine and constantly run the risk of returning to your old friend the cigarette, without knowing how it happened. If you want to be comfortable while you're quitting and down the road, you have to deal the habit, the chemical takes care of itself in a matter of days.
At the Palmer Smoking Clinic, I offer you a new way to quit smoking, one I'm sure you never tried. My program can minimize or eliminate the withdrawal symptoms, show you how not to gain weight and because you'll be doing everything right, you are able to put the habit to sleep quickly.

Hypnosis is the key to quitting

My stop-smoking program has always utilized hypnosis. It's the only process that I know of that can help solve the habit problem quickly. I've spent over 30 years developing my unique hypnosis application and I'm proud to say you can only get that at the Palmer Smoking Clinic. Don't worry, hypnosis is easy and anyone is capable of being hypnotized, it's the same kind of relaxation you go through any time you relax to fall asleep. (see Why Hypnosis for more details)

If you want information on how hypnosis can help you in other areas, and how I can make you a custom hypnosis CD, see Hypnosis Programs.

New for 2008. I have my Secrets to Quitting seminar available on CD. It explains why smoking is a behavior problem and outlines exactly how to quit. It's the same program I have offered to companies, the Illinois Lung Association and other organizations for years without hypnosis. An excellent guide to quitting, if you can't come to the office.
